Hoot-n-Any Pagan Festival 2008 |
|
So, what can you expect from the Hoot-n-Any? Fun, hilarity, music, a chance to meet other Pagan folk, food, dancing, drumming, a Circle Celebration, Magick, contact with Mother Nature and basic workshops... that's what we expect from our Hoot 'n' Any... The Fan Bank -- This came about as an accident really. A couple of years ago we had a few box fans at our campsite behind the registration table. Naturally, folks sort of collected there to visit a bit and brought along their fans. Well, the next thing I knew, most if not all of the workshops were being held in our campsite in the breeze of the fans. This worked okay, but with all our camping gear, it made for a rather congested, cluttered clump. So last year (2007) we set up across the road from our campsite (the first site in the middle) and put lots of fans in there. this allowed for a less cluttered presentation area and a comfortable spot for dining and just hanging out. We have opted (in part to keep down camp fees) to not rent the stage this year.
Music Food Lunch is on your own but there will be a massive pot of coffee in the camp kitchen near the registration table in the mornings between 8 and 10 a.m. We will also heat water for tea drinkers. We will also have some breakfast cereal and whatever donated breakfast junk food (like donuts) that folks want to bring to share. We will again offer our "Cheap Dinner Theatre" just prior to the serving of the Famous Stone Soup on Saturday evening -- Hoot participants are asked to bring one ingredient for the soup pot. Please have your ingredient be pre-cut up to reduce the amount of handling and risk of illness. Both vegetarians and meat eaters are covered. Let us know if you have particular allergies or special dietary needs and we will do our best to meet those. The basic concept is share and share alike. We are famous (or perhaps infamous) for our gourmet camp cooking. Volunteers will be recruited during the weekend to help as needed. Breakfast cereal and simple breads will be available along with the coffee and tea in the mornings.
Circle
Celebration If you wish to have a public or private or separate ceremony like a Healing, Wiccaning or Handfasting, please contact us so we can put in touch with our "Ceremony Coordinator" at least three months in advance to arrange scheduling and such. Workshops If you have an idea for a workshop or want to offer a workshop, please contact Cate at email.
We will be splitting the workshops between Friday and Saturday leaving more time for music in the afternoons and evenings. Mead Contest This is a now an annual event. If you would like to enter a bottle or two, please read the information on this link: Mead Contest. 12-Step Meeting We have a number of friends wiser than your average event attendee, who have learned that certain beverages (or substances) are less than beneficial to their health and are improving their lives one day at a time. At the same time as the Mead Contest (seemed appropriate somehow) these friends will hold a 12-step meeting for those who are interested. Vendors We have a number of vendors attending. They are listed on the vendors page so you know who you can expect to visit. If you would like to vend, drop us an email and we'll work out the details. Volunteers We are are a small group and may need some help from folks to keep things running smoothly. You will be asked to sign up for some volunteer duty when you arrive. (Yes, we will draft you if you don't volunteer!) The list is pretty varied including night security duty, litter pickup, food preparation, and life guard at the pool, ice runner, town crier and helper of the physically challenged. For the Small People We take a light hand here. The Small People seem to entertain themselves quite well. There is an Olympic-sized pool we can use and the young people can go as long as an adult goes with them. So watch out; if they see you sneaking up the hill in a bathing suit, you will have lots of company. Parents are ultimately responsible for the safety, care, behavior and feeding of their own but bring snacks to share as the young ones tend to gather in one location for games and are always hungry. One might be able to hire a sitter from among the teens if the pay is right but negotiations and advertising for help is up to the parent. Remind your little ones to respect the tree spirits and not to approach wild animals. [Home] [Who We Are] [Activities] [Vendors] [Registration] [Email] |
