These are rules upon which we must insist. It is not that we don't want folks with us, it is just that among our group there are law enforcement folks whose livelihood depends upon their willingness to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or the federal government even when off-duty.  Illegal activities also put the the entire Hoot-n-Any Gathering at risk. If you respect your fellow Pagan person, we know you will understand and follow these rules without problem. If you have a problem with them, don't come.

Do As Thy Will & Harm None

  1. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied throughout their stay by their legal guardian.

  2. Anyone under the age of 21 caught drinking alcoholic beverages or under 18, smoking tobacco products, will be asked to leave. No refunds will be made.

  3. Anyone caught using illegal substances will be asked to leave immediately. No refunds will be offered and you and your party will be barred from all future Hoot-n-Any Events.

  4. Pets and familiars are the responsibility of the owner. If your pet is off leash and bothering someone (including someone else's pet), you will be asked to put the animal in a travel box or leash it. If you fail to comply, you will be asked to leave with your pet. All pets should be leashed or boxed at all times. A special tag will be provided at registration for all pets (please make sure it is on your pet's collar throughout the weekend).

  5. Please monitor your own behavior. If you become a pest, cannot control your own behavior or become disruptive or disturbing to others, you will be asked to leave and not welcomed back.

  6. If burning restrictions are in effect, we are required to follow them to protect the woodlands, fields and wetlands.

  7. Do NOT dispose of garbage or trash in the fire pits. There are garbage receptacles in front of the bathhouse. Our group's children do the cleanup policing after the event and we do not want them having to pick fruit rinds, tin cans, glass bottles and other trash out of fire pits that may still be hot.

  8. This is not a clothing optional event. All private parts including women's breasts must be covered when you are in visual range of others outside your tent or in the showers. You will be asked only once to dress, then you will be asked to leave.

  9. Quiet time begins at 12 midnight. Security personnel will make rounds periodically throughout the night. If your voice can be heard in the next camp site you will be told once to quiet down. A second warning will not be issued. You will simply be asked to pack up and move to the dock area. If you want to stay up all night talking, laughing and drinking; move yourself to the dock area early on. You will be far enough away from other campers you will not disturb them.

  10. Swimming and boating is at your own risk and expense. (Get with the campground owner regarding boat and canoe rentals.)

  11. Do not put nails into the trees and if you tie something to a tree, be sure to remove it completely before you leave. We recognize and respect the tree devas and they know and trust us to take care of them.

  12. Use common sense with candles and torches in your campsite. Pine needles go up in a flash (ask me how I know) and it will be a bad day in tent city if we have an accidental ignition.

In essence, our rules are about respecting other people and respecting nature.  It has a lot to do with the Rede.
